Hi. I've only tested the parts in PETG at 100% scale, so I'm not sure how increasing to 135% would affect print reliability in vase mode. It sounds like the issue may be due to warping, especially as the widest drawer sizes have the largest areas of flat walls so would be most likely to experience this. I would try reducing print speed and possibly turning down the part cooling fan to stop the layers cooling too quickly.

Hi. Thanks for ing the model. The frame connections should have a fairly tight fit. If they feel a little too loose, it's likely the wall thickness is slightly under 0.8mm resulting in increased tolerance between the frames. If this is the case, setting the 'Horizonal Expansion' (Cura etc) or 'XY Compensation' (PrusaSlicer etc) setting to a slightly positive value (eg. 0.1mm) should reduce the tolerance and provide a tighter fit. I hope this helps.

P.S. most printers can extrude quite accurately at 0.8mm line width using a 0.4mm nozzle (although of course a larger nozzle is ideal).

Thanks for the . The frames with drawer stops have an extra protrusion at the top of the drawer slit to stop the drawer from falling out when fully open. The same drawers are used, but they need to be slightly tilted backwards to insert them. I hope this makes sense.

The frame in the photo is upside down. The drawer stops should work ok if the frame is turned the other way up.

Which flat top at 160 mm? Can't find anything, 80 mm with a middle bar doesn't fit, would have to be without, then 2 80 mm would fit.

2 x 80mm flat tops should fit a 160mm frame. There isn't a 160mm flat top option by default as the increased span can make the top wall droop, but I can provide one to you if preferred.. please let me know if you would find it useful. :-)

2x 80 doesn't work because of the middle part, I cut it with the slicer, now it fits

Are you able to provide a picture of the issue please, so I can check the model? I have printed quite a few 80mm flat tops for 160mm frames and not encountered the issue. Many thanks.

It should be simple to create a suitable divider for the single-height drawers, to allow the bits to be individually stored horizontally. Do you know the typical lengrh of the bits you wish to store?

Hi, thanks for . Yes, I can understand the names, but, with a little jpeg with the same name it could be faster and precise to find the right file, instead of checking file by file in cura. Btw, I have a youtube channel, im doing a review of a printer and im gonna use, as one of examples, your system to organize my screws into wall. Right now im printing a lot of drawers. Due pointy screw, metal weight and fragile vase mode, I decided to print regular, with no top and two layers to increase rigity. It could be nice a simple hole in back of frame to avoid fall off or a collapse in bottom frames due the tower weight. Im doing a hole now by hand with drill, but if there is a hole in print it means that I can swap positions and mantain same hole position in back plywood

Hi. They were originally designed for FDM printing using 'vase mode', but they should also print well on SLA/resin printers (I've seen a few people mention doing so) by using zero infill, zero top layers, and a sinlge 0.8mm outer wall (or 2 x 0.4mm walls).

One has a double-height drawer on the top and 2 sinlge-height drawers below. The other has a double-height drawer on the bottom and 2 sinlge-height drawers above.

Hi. Thanks for the positive on the design. The shelves slide in on top of the drawer runner / er profiles. Some glue can be applied underneath if needed, but they usually stay in place well without this.

I'm feeling real dumb right now, but what are the shelf stl's for?

Hi. The tallest drawers in the system are 93.8mm high at the default scale, so not too far off your requirements. These were added after the original design was published, take up all four slots and are available in three widths (the 80mm wide version can be seen in images 10/11). It should be fine to scale the system up slightly to make these 100mm high, but It may be worth using a larger nozzle/line width to ensure optimal strength.

Hi. The 2mm difference in height between the upper and lower slots is normal, as this ensures that the vertical drawer spacing remains consistent when when frames are stacked. However, the double-height drawer should still fit in both slots, as the lower slot still has 43.4mm of clearance (taking into 2 x 0.8mm walls) and the drawer is only 42.5mm high. It would be worth checking the dimensions of the printed parts in the first instance, in case there is slight printer calibration issue which is affecting dimensional accuracy. If so, the easiest fix would be to slightly reduce the drawer height in the slicer.

Hi. It sounds like either the print may be sticking a little too well to the build plate, or there is a layer adhesion issue.

You mentioned that you are using an Ender 3 Pro. Do you still use the stock glass bed? If so, these can be prone to issues with prints sticking too well - I found this sometimes myself with the glass bed on my Ender 3 V2 when using certain filaments, especially those with a relatively high printing temperature . There are a few things that can help, such as lowering the bed temperature and/or the first layer nozzle temperature a little. Making sure the bed has completely cooled before removing the print can also help. I upgraded my Ender 3 to a flexible PEI build sheet eventually, and this made a huge difference.

The filament type could also be a factor if layer adhesion strength is poor. Which type of filament are you using? I find that Silk PLA tends to have especially weak layer adhesion, so I tend to avoid using this for vase-mode prints and I normally use a good quality regular PLA or PLA+.

It may also be worth doing a few test prints at different nozzle temperatures to see which produces the best level of layer adhesion if you haven't done so already.

I am using silk PLA, on a glass bed! You certainly know your models! I think I'll just reinforce the ones I've already printed, I hate to waste the plastic, but I'll definitely note to not use silk next time! They really do look great in the silk, such a shame!

They do look great in silk.. I've found Silk PLA+ to be significantly stronger that regular silk PLA if that helps :-)

Hi. If the fit feels too tight, the first thing to check is for any 'elephants foot' around the bottom layers. If this is not the issue, adjusting the 'horizontal expansion' / 'x-y compensation' setting in the slicer to a slightly negative value (eg. -0.1mm) will result in increased tolerances for a looser fit. There is a test model available to allow for fine tuning of settings without needing to print entire frames. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

I'm having the same problem. I'll check those settings to see if I can get these to fit better together. I am getting a little extra squish on the sides of the left corners.

These models have been designed to print in 'vase mode' on an FDM printer, although it should be possible to print them on an SLA printer by setting infill to zero, top layers to zero, and using a single perimeter wall of 0.8mm (or 2 x 0.4mm). Thanks for the positive and wall-mount suggestion. There are a few top and bottom wall-mount versions floating around that others have made, but not an 'official' version as the system was designed as a desktop unit. That being said, quite a few people have requested this, so it's probably time I start testing a version for release with the main system.

Firstly, phenomenal design. Probably my favourite set of STLs I've ever found.

Are there any unofficial designs that you would recommend for a wall mount? I've probably got a couple more weeks of design, printing, iterating, and organizing before it's time to mount but eventually I'd like to put this above the workbench. Thanks :)

Hi, thanks for the positive about the design. The models have been tested in Bambu Studio and all parts should slice correctly in vase mode. I'm not very familiar with OrcaSlicer, but I believe it is a fork of Bambu Studio (based on PrusaSlicer), so I would expect the models to also slice correctly using OrcaSlicer. Is there a specific issue you are experiencing? The most important slicer requirements for this design are to enable vase/spiralize mode and to set the line/extrusion width to 0.8mm.

Have now opened the file with Bambu Slicer. The line width, do I have to set everything to 0.80 or just the one at the top? I'll try it again tomorrow and hope it doesn't get so thin again :-)

It probably only requires the outer wall setting to be changed, but I usually increase them all to 0.8mm to be sure, as every slicer handles vase mode a little differently.

I'm unfamiliar with that specific model of printer and the slicer software it's bundled with but, if 'vase mode' is not ed, it should still be possible to print the models by selecting zero infill and zero top layers in the slicer settings. Using 1 wall at 0.8mm wall/line width should optimise speeds to around the same as vase mode.

Alternatively, there is probably a profile in Cura for your printer, which should allow you to print using vase mode.

Thanks for fast response and the good idea. I tried it, but no chance. My slicing software always wants to add at least one top layer. Cura does not my 3d printer. I will try to figure something out.

I know it's been a bit since you posted this but perhaps set a pause command just before the top layer. You could scale the height up a bit to for the missing layer but you could pull the model without a top layer then.

I'm also not familiar with that printer but I find it really disappointing from a quick glance that a printer of that cost can't be controlled as well as a sad $200 printer. :/

If this issue has started when using a new PLA, It would be with checking for any 'elephants foot' first at the bottom layers, as this is a common issue affecting tolerances. If this is present, adjusting nozzle temperature may help, although there are multiple possible causes.

There aren't looser fit versions of the models (other than the ers), but adjusting the 'horizontal expansion' setting in the slicer to a slightly negative value will give more tolerance if needed. (This is the setting name in Cura, in PrusaSlicer it's 'x-y compensation'). -0.1mm should be a good starting point.

There are test frame models available which include only the top/bottom frame profiles to help fine tune settings without needing to print full frames.

It should be fairly easy to create double-width feet which span 2 frame units (ie. 2 x 40mm), however, I'm not sure if this would be possible to do this whilst also maintaining the ability to print them in vase-mode. I'll have a look into it and see if I can find a good solution.

Hi. The frames are all 11.1cm high, and there are frame versions that allow for 2 x single-height and 1 x double-height drawers to be used in the same frame.
