Hi,
I've printed one out with no infill and 0.8 line but I'm still getting a 'cover' printed on the top, which is a pain to cut out. I presume I'm doing something wrong?

Hi. Sorry for the delayed reply, but I only just received an email notification. They are designed to be printed in 'vase mode' ('spiralize outer contour' in Cura and 'Spiral vase' in PrusaSlicer/BambuStudio etc), so should print without infill and without top layers if this is activated in the slicer.

They can also be printed in normal mode by setting infill and top layers to zero (and using 1 wall at 0.8mm line width). I hope this helps.

Does it come full of filling?

Hi. It's designed to be printed using 'Vase mode', so there is no infill once this is activated. The name for this setting varies between slicers, for example in Cura it is 'Spiralize outer contour' and in PrusaSlicer it's 'Spiral Vase'.

For best results, line width should also be set to 0.8mm.

Very nice and quick to print, it took until I got the hang of ing the gaps from inside. but overall I am very satisfied. And this good idea with vase_mode As an upgrade suggestion, one channel should be added to the big organizers to be able to combine the big ones with the small ones. but I'm super happy with the result. Thank you

Good Morning, I printed the Desk Organiser but once completed its very weak and the layers broke easily. I was printing at 0.2 layer as i only have a 0.4 nozel on. Please can you advise how to improve the prints :)

Hi.

The layer height selected shouldn't matter too much, but I normally use 0.32mm to minimize print times. The key setting to maximise strength in vase mode is line width

This model has been designed to print best using a 0.8mm line width, and this should result in a sturdy organiser. Most entry-level 3D printers can manage to print a 0.8mm line width using a 0.4mm nozzle, but this will depend on your specific printer. All of the models in the photos were printed with a 0.8mm line width using an Ender 3 v2 and a stock 0.4mm nozzle.

The choice of filament can also have a significant impact on strength, with matte and silk PLA tending to be the weakest. I normally use standard PLA or PLA+ with good results for these organisers or other functional prints.

Hi. Yes, the gaps are normal and there to allow the models to print in vase mode. The gaps are exactly 1.6mm wide, so when printed with a 0.8mm line width, the two halves meet and should fuse together, leaving a seam but no gap.
