Meshtastic Fixed Node Case 100% Waterproof (Heltec/Faketec/RAK...)

Hello, that's an idea I've been thinking about for a long time, but I always run into the same issue: there are many "raw" s on AliExpress of various shapes and sizes. It should be something modular in some way. On the other hand, I don't have access to all the s that exist, and I would have to buy them to see if they fit well and are durable in the long run.

I've been testing a new mount + that I designed for CCTV camera s, which are ideal for this project, for about a month now. Today, I will the model to attach them to the capsule. However, it doesn't have a compartment for two 18650 batteries—I only use one. Adding extenders doesn't seem like a good solution.

Let me rethink the idea, and we can continue talking privately (if the platform allows it) to see if we can create this add-on. (I am from Spain too)

I also have another idea that isn't too far-fetched, it would be to make a bracket to place a small turbine with vertical blades that collects wind from any direction, they are small electricity generators from Alliespres, they can generate up to 1 watt, in windy areas like mine it would be great. I think it's great that you're working on improving the capsules, I'm waiting for you to your new project, and if you need help to locate measurements, they are usually somewhat standard measurements according to voltage and power. I don't know how we could talk about it in a tested way.

Hello, at the moment there is a 35mm circular coupling (diameter of typical pole tubes). In any case, I am deg a more universal anchor for 30-40mm diameter antenna posts and I will to this same project as soon as I have it. As for the second question, I don't know what other boards are "compatible." It is actually a capsule (hollow cylinder) and fits any object 27mm wide or less and 60mm high or less. Probably most of them except for TTGOLora 32 and similar in size.
As for water resistance, it is its strong point. I designed it for this and it has spent months outdoors with a lot of heavy rain. It can probably dive to 1m. It has two O-rings, one in the circular cover and another in the SMA connector of the antenna. Even so, the connector is threaded with the SMA threads so it is not 100% necessary. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Hello, I’ve just ed the pole mount. It’s designed to be entirely plastic with no metal parts, yet sturdy and durable. You can use two mounts if needed, but one should be enough. It’s recommended to use large zip ties (10mm or smaller). Have you tested mounting a RAK on it yet? I’m also working on deg an N-type capsule instead of SMA to accommodate Helium-style antennas, and if you’re interested, it will be available once I receive the N-type antenna and can test its strength and perfect fit.

Hi, i have not test RAK modules. In the RAK website said that 4631 is 20x30mm. Internal diameter of the capsule is 27 so may fit with lot of space. Heltec v3 is 26x50mm aprox. If is less than 27mm wide is ok. And less than 6cm. Also this pack has other long capsule for extra space

In the description, I provide the exact interior dimensions of the capsule and the solar used. In the photos, you can see most of the included parts (all printed in PLA wood). The exterior dimension of the capsule is the interior plus a 2.5mm wall. In the disassembly photo, you can see the proportions. After buying this design, you will receive a PDF manual with the assembly instructions and lots of photos of each individual part. 🤓

Currently there is no such thing for an 18650. A small lipo fits. But that idea of the extender is very good and I am going to implement it as soon as possible. In addition, I have yet to an update that adds a for a solar and a box attached to it to be able to put up to 3 18650. In any case, I will implement your idea as well.

As you might have seen, I did buy the design and will print some of the parts later this weekend. And test with my various boards: Heltec V32, Heltec Wireless Stick and LILYGO TBEAM and with LiPo and 18650. If interested I can give you my how it fits?

(I had a similar modular design in my mind, but as I'm new to 3D prints, it's easier for me to piggyback on you :-D )

I have been deg an extension tube to insert an 18650 inside but I am not convinced by the idea. I can it if you want but I think it is a much better idea to use a second cartridge for the battery or create several different capsule lengths. I am going to create a main capsule in which an 18650 fits along the length.

... not sure how it will work, but if you design a new cap '1_way_cap_no_hole_female' then the 'extension_tube_18650' can be closed at the top - and if '1_way_cap' is used as bottom, then the 18650-battery can be connected by wire to 'main_body'. ... not sure though, if it will turn into a Frankenstein-tube-setup :-o

BTW the Heltec Wireless Stick can perfectly fit in the 'main_body'. But LILYGO TBEAM and LiPo (LP103454 200mAh) is to big to fit - no problemo, just my conclusion ;-)

BTW2: extension_tube_18650 + 1_way_cap_no_hole_female + 1_way_cap_no_hole => nice waterproof capsule for generic purpose :-D

Thank you! I will include the file named "1_way_cap_no_hole_female.stl". The extension tube needs to be redesigned to fit the 33mm part properly. I will brainstorm ways to achieve this without compromising strength or risking damage to the threading. Alternatively, another option is to create a closed capsule with a rounded tip.

Yes, I've detailed it in the manual. It's quite simple: you just need to connect the I2C sensor to the Heltec I2C bus and provide it with 3.3V. Additionally, there are configurations available to activate environmental modules in Meshtastic's web client, as well as an option to display the data on the OLED screen. Perhaps I should also include the exact software configuration. Give it a try and inform me of the results.
