DOOM-Inspired Design for a Unique LED Lamp
This design is inspired by the iconic game DOOM and was entirely created by me. Both the artwork and the casing are original creations by ElektroTechNL. This project is perfect for anyone looking to add a gaming touch to their interior or simply searching for a unique decorative piece.

UPDATE! 16-01-2025 – New Feet Now Available – Listed on This Page!
Discover the new feet for your images, also known as faceplates! These practical and stylish additions are available in both half-round and square designs, making it simple to create a stable base without needing to print or build the entire light. The best part? No soldering required!
For a sleek and professional touch, position your image at a slight 5-degree angle. This gentle backward tilt enhances both the aesthetic appeal and visibility of your design.
Set the infill to 15% to achieve the ideal balance between strength and weight, or customize it to suit your needs. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned maker, these new feet provide flexibility, convenience, and a perfect finish to your creations!
Version 2.0 is now available!
All items will be updated, and you can view them as images. The last image is V2.0. From now on, I will only lamps as images, as otherwise, it requires a lot of material. Version 2.0 is not necessarily better, but different. It can turn out more beautifully, depending on your preference. All STL files and images will be displayed as V2.0. If another version is released, it will be labeled as version 3.0, or V3.0.
What You Need
To complete this project, you’ll need to purchase LED lighting, a dimmer, and an adapter. The design is compatible with LED COB strips (12 volts, 8 mm width). You can choose the color of the LED strip and customize the width if needed, though the design is optimized for 8 mm strips. The casing also s other LED strips with varying widths and voltages.
Important Note
You need to manually add a pause or filament change at layer 5 (1.00 mm height) during the print. This pause allows you to customize the front ’s design with your desired color, ensuring the image stands out as you intended. Always start with white and change the color to your liking during the pause!
Some software may have issues with the Z: settings, so make sure your object is flat or adjust the pause earlier or later if necessary. If everything is fine, the pause at layer 5 should work. For the new Creality print software, there may be Z: settings issues, so pay close attention. In the latest software, I had to set the pause at layer 6. Of the 10 layers for the front, it must always stop at layer 5 if the object is placed correctly at the bottom.
Keep in mind that if you’re using higher voltages or LEDs that generate a lot of heat, it’s better to print the casing with a material other than PLA. However, with high-quality LED strips, this is usually not necessary.
Front Design and Assembly
The lamp's front fits snugly into place and can easily be swapped for a new design. It should stay securely in place without additional fastenings, but if you prefer extra stability, you can use corner brackets and feet to hold everything in position.
There should be a slight curve on the corners and feet to ensure the lamp stands firm, giving a subtle rounded effect while keeping it stable. If you don’t intend to replace the front , you can permanently attach it with super glue for added stability. Alternatively, you can use very thin double-sided tape instead of super glue. In that case, the feet and corner brackets are optional but can still be used if desired.
Additional Notes
I will also share links to recommended components for this project. Please note that you will need to solder to assemble everything. At the moment, I do not offer complete kits, as I lack the resources and time to provide them.
If you cannot or prefer not to solder, you can look for a ready-made LED solution. For example, consider one with a round plug, USB connection, or another option of your choice. You can insert this through the round hole at the back, where the power input would normally be placed, eliminating the need for soldering.
You can position the LED all around, on the back, or anywhere else to create a nice light distribution — it's completely up to you.

Compatibility and Future Expansions
This design is suitable for a wide range of 3D printers. In the future, I plan to create more variations and front s, depending on the time I have available. Do you have suggestions for other games or themes you'd like to see? Let me know in the comments! I’m open to ideas and can create designs tailored to your preferences.

3D Printing and Assembly Settings
Here’s a revised version of the text for clarity and flow:
For successful printing and assembly, I recommend the following settings:
Pause/Color Change: Don’t forget to pause or change the color at layer 5 (1.00 mm height) to your desired color. Always start with a white background!
Infill: 15% (adjustable to your preference; for the front , use 100% infill).
Material: Hyper PLA or any other PLA (for the front , always start with white).
Quality: Standard (0.20 mm layer height).
: None.
Printer: Creality K1 Max.
LED Strip: COB LED, 12V, 8 mm width (color and width customizable).
Additional Notes:
Feets Seam position on the back!
The small details are best highlighted when the light is on!
Personally, I think black and white look best because they distribute light more evenly and don't let it shine through. However, the colors are also nice, offering plenty of creative possibilities.
You can customize the color of the feet, housing, etc., but make sure to pay special attention to the front and don’t forget the pause!
Final Thoughts
This project is not only a tribute to the game DOOM but also a fun DIY project for every maker. Let your creativity run wild and customize the design to your liking. If you have ideas, , or questions, feel free to share them in the comments. Together, we can create even more unique projects!
