if i print it in 200 percent height, is it alo possible without printing?

I never leave bad reviews if i dont have to but this file..........Ive tried so many different settings and variations, filaments and even different printers and cant get it to print. Either the tubes are too tight, welded together or just fail for no reason. You shouldnt have to play around with a file this much to get it to work. ESPECIALLY if you have to pay for it. Sorry creator, but ive had a bad time with this one.

I can see other people got it working...i tip my hat to you as i dont know how you did it

Printed perfectly on the P1S after a few adjustments to the original design. Adjusted the speed (-50%), seam random, Z-Hop, and inner wall thickness (41mm). Now expands and contracts without any effort. Great print, thank you.

Tried printing the V3 file on an X1 Carbon in PLA and the extending sections got stuck. The finger to the 2nd section pretty much didn't move. To fix the problem, I used Fusion 360 to split the sections and rescale them in XY only. Hand: 100%, 1st section 97%, 2nd section 96%, Finger 95%). I got some spaghetti on the first few layers, but aside from that, it printed perfectly and extends at the flick of the wrist.

I've had problems with the internal seams with standard pla. But when I print with matte pla it prints perfectly. Same printer and gcode. Very cool model!

Thank You for the model. I got it to print at 42% on a Makergear M3-ID.

I used 1 perimeter layer and 0% infill. Also lowered my usual temps by ~5Β°C and ran ~ 20% slower.
It's fragile and now stuck in the extended position but it's possible.

Hey, I'm getting issues trying to make this print (scale 100%) on both a Bambu Lab P1S and Elegoo Neptune 3 Plus. I've reduced the printing speed (NOT scale) to 50% on the P1S and 80% on the Neptune. I've glued the build plate for better adhesion. I've leveled and calibrated several times to make sure there's no dragging. I've attempted it with layer height at 0.2mm, 0.16mm and 0.12mm and with multiple filaments.

Everything I've tried, one of the collapsing walls pops out after a few layers, or around ten layers in the entire thing shifts even when the printer goes completely undisturbed. Maybe I'm a complete idiot, but I have no idea what else I can do that might fix this and let me complete this print.

This is happening to me as well. I found that reducing the speed to 50% increases the success rate of the print. I also tried upping the first layer temp to 65 degrees.

Have you managed to get this working yet on the bambus? Works fine on my ender 3 but not my bambu

Hi folks, Most of my Patreons use Bambus and they printed hundreds and probably thousands of them as they sell them online. If the finger gets knocked down it's because the nozzle is pressuring it or hitting it and because it has a small surface area - it gets disconnected. Try also enabling z-hop as well it may help, Printing this is not like printing a cube or some bust - it requires more fine-tuned settings.

doesn't knock anything down just fuses the fingers together. I have printed all the parts separately under normal print settings and the slide in and out perfectly. Just when combined as one print on the bambu doesn't work. Works fine on ender 3. Have sliced the bottom off so the finger can be inserted then the bottom just needs pushing back on.

hey yall.. so i was having the same issue. make sure your plate is clean. also print using an inner and outer brim. Once done you can just push the fingers outwards and clean the rest of the brim from the inner, very easy.

The finger always wobbles and detached
Tried glue, pei plate, slowed the speed, z hop from 0.4 to 0.9

Do you have any advice on how to print it on a resin printer? I've tried twice on my Photon Mono M5s and it isn't working. The first time I printed with s, and it printed s in between the layers, fusing them together. The second time, I printed without s, but it printed the bottom layers as solid pieces, again fusing the the layers. I could try to print it without those bottom layers, but then I'm not sure that it would stick to the buildplate properly...

I honestly can't say, this model like other collapsing models are built to be printed on FDM printers

Just bought this and printed at 60% LOVE IT! My infill is pretty thick (nothing wrong with it and it prints perfect) as I'm new to printing. What type of infill pattern is the one you used in your video? Just curious

Same here. I am using a X1C and the biggest part of the finger wont fit out of the hole in the hand. :(

I am also having this issue. The largest ring can't slide all the way to the top due to it hitting the walls too quickly

Hey folks, Those are common issues with collapsing designs, I know you probably heard it but I'm gonna say it again πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
- If the finger wont budge - Then you are Over extruding / Walls to thick / Seam issues that cause blobs

If the finger gets knocked down by your nozzle - Then it's because it's hitting it / Pushing it too hard combined with the fact that it's a small surface area + bad adhesion.

It was printed already thousands of times so I assure you the model is just fine - Try addressing the problems above and also LOWER SPEED.

Also, how should I address the over extruding or walls being too thick? Love this print! Making them for a handful of co-workers lol!

Than read the tips and suggestions in the 3d printing settings section - if your walls get fused you are overextending / too much flow / walls to thick
