Modular Display Case with PLA-Printed Dividers for Cookie Sheet Shelving for Magnetic figure bases.
This custom-built display case is designed for serious miniatures collectors and tabletop gamers, offering a practical, organized way to store and display large quantities of magnet-based figures. At its core, the system uses PLA plastic dividers—3D printed and arranged in vertical tracks—to hold standard metal cookie sheets, ( I used Betty Crocker 17" by 11" ) which serve as the shelves.
Each cookie sheet slides easily into the printed rails, making them perfect for figures with magnetic bases. The model shown uses Betty Crocker 17” x 11” cookie sheets with rounded, lipped edges that glide smoothly within the dividers. The case itself is constructed from 5/8” thick plywood and measures approximately 7 feet tall by 38 10/16 inches wide. Vertical shelf spacing is roughly 12 1/16 inches, though this can and should be adjusted based on your figure collection. I also used a 2 by 6 to space the centers. Putting on a thin wood back also would be a good idea and make it deeper than needed if you want to install LED's one day. Just make sure when you screw the pieces onto the wood that the extended lip is what helps under the cookie sheet lip. The two files for the Drawer of 5 -7eights approx. has 2 pieces to it. (1 Upper and 1 Lower) which allow both lips to under a cookie sheet. Learn from experience I installed many of mine wrong and I created it. LOL....
To maximize usability, the dividers must be arranged thoughtfully—spacing between shelves should reflect the height and footprint of the miniatures being stored. Smaller figures like standard infantry or adventurers require only narrow shelf spacing, while larger items like dragons, giants, war machines, massive monsters, or even resin-printed terrain pieces will need extra clearance. Customization is key, and the modular nature of the printed dividers allows you to adapt the case layout to your collection’s needs.
Whether you're using this system for Fantasy Gaming, wargaming, Si-Fi Gaming , or any other tabletop miniature game, this display case offers an efficient, scalable solution. It’s ideal for collectors managing hundreds—or in some cases, thousands—of figures, providing quick access and secure storage in a neat vertical footprint.
