3D model description

Hi guys,

this is a LED Ring lamp which you can use in combination with my Nativity Scene Ring Light Art:

You will need:

  • 10 mm wide LED strip, use the highest density LED strip possible, I used 240 leds / meter
  • 2x M3 flat head screw / glue
  • PETG for the body, white TPU/TPE for the diff

Two versions:

  • Q stand version - Side stand, only one color strip possible as the connector wouldn't be able to through the small openings. A cap screws on from back, two versions available, one version for bare wires, second version for barrel jack connector. You will need two M3 screws for this version.
  • Base stand version - allows any LED strip to be used, includes hole for the power wire, this stand also has two versions, one of them also incudes hole for the IR receiver on the side. To prevent using s I added 0.2 thick bridge layer which you will need to cut off so print at 0.2 mm layer height. Base stand version also includes bottom lid which just conveniently snaps in. M3 screws are optional here, you can use glue instead.

Five sizes:

  • 150 mm
  • 175 mm
  • 200 mm
  • 225 mm
  • 250 mm

(these are the outer ring sizes)

Printing instructions

The walls of the diff are 0.5 mm thick so you will need to use standard 0.4 mm nozzle. As mentioned above, if you print the Base stand version use 0.2 mm layer height.

For the body I highly recommend to use PETG as the LED strip can get hot. If you have issues with temp you can line the inside of the ring with aluminium tape which will also reflect more of the light towards diff. Win win. Use s for the body.

For the diff you will need white TPU/TPE. No s needed here but keep the seams aligned to avoid stringing and unnecessary travel moves.

When you have the ring and the stand printed out, them using the M3 flat head screw which screws in directly into the print. Insert LED strip, diff and tuck it inside the ring. The switch is meant to be on the wire or use remote controlled LED strip for the convienence with side hole base stand version.

Available in .3mf, and .step file formats. I'm dropping the .stl format because .3mf format is far superior to the .stl. Feel free to edit .step file if you need to adjust it to your needs.
