So here's my first attempt at a book nook!
This book nook is super easy to light up!
You will need two battery operated tealights. That's it!!! Two cavities are located at the top, in which you can insert a tealight to light up the whole scene. With a flickering effect, it is simply amazing!
The project is almost free. Only a few s needed on the counterbores (for the tealights) on the main brick section. All the other parts are totally free.
All the parts are already placed in the right orientation for printing.
Dimensions of the largest part (the brick section): 110x167.2x 212.4mm (Fits ender 3 and other similar models)
PRUSA OWNERS: Another version of the brick section has been added to the folder with an height of 209mm. So its also printable on a pruse Mk3s+ or equivalent.
Color-coded names and quantities when applicable.
You can modify the scene! Some parts have a specific place, with indentations in the floor to glue them in place. But all the other parts can be position anywhere in the scene, so you can make your own custom book nook, just the way you want it!
Like my other projects, it can be printed on any regular printer. For the multicolor parts, it can be done with a simple color change at height. If you are not familiar with color change at height, send me a private message, and i will help you with pleasure!
A complete Bambulab project file is included (3mf) with settings and colors already set.
As usual, follow the instructions carefully, and make some dry fit checks (without glue) at every step.
Optional info:
Although i am pretty happy with it, i have to reconsider a few things for the next designs.
First, because of the arch at the top, the project is not what i want regarding the filament consumption. Most of the other parts are very small and doesnt require lot of filament, but the brick section is consumming a deceiving 300g approximately. I'm sorry for that, i will work on that for the next ones. I will also try to make an update eventualy for this one, with less material needed.
Second; I wasnt able to fit the thing on a Mini printer bed... To be an acceptable size for a book nook, it needs to be this big, and making the large parts in two or three parts was difficult without having a noticeable gap somewhere in the bricks... I will have to work on this too. Sorry for that my friends.
Third: Its ALMOST free... But with the counterbores at the top of the brick section, some s are needed. That's the only part requiring s, all the other parts are free.
I am actually experiencing with sequential bridging (Thanks to Maker Muse) for holes like that, and if everything goes right, i will use this method in the future for counterbores and similar sections to make them totally free.
In any case, consider this as a first trial and if you have any kind of questions, feel free to send me a private message. Suggestions regarding the build will be welcome too.
Keep printing my friends and have fun!!!
