3D printer file info

3D model description

A non-transforming, poseable, multi-part kit for 3d printing the Dinobot combiner – Volcanicus.
Made up of Snarl, Sludge, Slug, Swoop and of course, the mighty Grimlock!

Size
Volcanicus is a beast! And with lots of sticky-up bits, a little hard to measure.
At 100% he's roughly 33cm to the top of his head - so perfect size for your CHUG / WFC / Legacy / Studio Series displays. See the photos for some comparisons with the Studio Series 86 Dinobots and WFC Wheeljack.

For Legacy heads like me. 33cm is okay, but is on the larger size when looking at the individual bots. Printing at 85% = 28cm (about the size of NA Omega Supreme) would probably be more in keeping.

Scaling up and down should be okay, but will probably need a few tweaks for tolerances on the ts and bits which slot together. And as always, how well it prints will depend on the accuracy of your printer and quality of your filaments.

Colour
I've split the files by colour so no painting required!
I have also included an arm/wing variant for Swoop and Volcanicus. So if you’d prefer Swoops wings on Volcanicus’ back instead of Grimlock’s chest - now you can!

This is my most detailed design so far, and took me a few months to complete, and a further few weeks to prep the files for sharing. As someone still pretty new to the hobby, I have taken a lot of inspiration from the fantastic work of Toymakr3d, Transformers 3d Printing Facebook group, and of course, Transformers!

3D printing settings

You will need:
A 3d FDM printer
Filaments (I used PLA+) in: Red, Yellow, Light Grey, Dark Grey, Black and Blue.
(Alternatively, you could print in one colour and paint.)

I printed mine using regular PLA+ filament on an Ender3 v3 SE.
The orientation of the files is how I printed them, and I strongly advise using s.

Depending on how accurate your printer is, a few of the pegs/holes may need sanding/clipping slightly to fit and/or some of the push fit bits may benefit from a bit of glue..

I've included a picture for assembly as well as numbered & colour coded the files to make things easier for printing.
