The Terminator is a 1984 American science fiction film directed by James Cameron.

In the center of the plot is the confrontation between a soldier and a terminator robot, who arrived in 1984 from the post-apocalyptic 2029. The purpose of the terminator: to kill Sarah Connor - a girl whose yet unborn son in a possible future will win the war between mankind and machines. Soldier Kyle Reese, who is in love with Sarah, tries to stop the terminator. The film raises the problems of time travel, fate, the creation of artificial intelligence, the behavior of people in extreme situations.

Thanks to the film, the word "terminator" has become a household word, and Arnold Schwarzenegger's phrase "I'll be back" (from English - "I'll be back") became one of the most famous movie quotes.
