As molten lava flows and cools rapidly, it encases any creature that might have been unlucky enough to be caught in its path. Over time, the intense heat and pressure solidify the lava into igneous rock — a hardened shell perfect for preserving delicate organic matter.

The excavation and recovery process for these mysterious Pokémon fossils is highly delicate and requires skilled paleontologists and Pokémon researchers. The igneous rock formations are meticulously surveyed and studied to ensure the fossils are not damaged during extraction.
