Modular Steampunk Mech Walker Miniature FDM Friendly

A Steam powered mech that can be equipped with either tools for work or weapons for battle.

This model was designed to be printed on a FDM printer with minimal s. It is to scale with 28mm-32mm miniatures. The legs fit within a 2 inch square or 2.5 inch diameter circle.

There are 4 interchangeable arms with different tools and weapons including: Claw, Circular Saw, Gatling Gun, and Cannon. The arms attach to the body of the model with a friction fit so that they can be swapped out at will. There are multiple options for the angle of the elbow on each arm and the angle of the shoulder can be set as desired when the arm is glued together.

Printing Instructions:

I recommend printing all parts with a layer height of 0.1mm and a 0.4mm nozzle.

The body, legs, and shoulders can be printed without s.

Arms and their associated tools and weapons should be printed with s. The overhang angle can be set as high as 80 degrees to minimize the generation of unnecessary s. For the claws I recommend using tree s.

Assembly instructions:

Remove the stabilizing sprue from each leg with clippers or a razor blade. Fit the legs into the cavity in the bottom of the body and glue it into place.

For each arm you need a shoulder piece, an arm, and the weapon or tool associated with that arm. Glue the arm into the shoulder at the desired angle and glue the weapon or tool to the end of the arm. Do not glue the shoulder to the body.

Press the shoulder peg into the shoulder socket of the body without glue. Friction should be enough to keep the arm in place. The arms can be pulled out and replaced with new arms as desired.
