3D model description
This is a completely redesigned version of my old Clicking Modular Counter made 5 years ago (with more than 100 s so far)
- Make your own counter for hp / score / mana / etc. With as many digits as you want You can even combine it all in one counter to use less space and have better organization (especially usefull in rpg games)
- Choose between 1.2mm (little easier to use) or 0.8mm (use less space) thick wheels
- Carved or Domed numbers on weels - as you like
- Counted number on top of the stand or angled (36*)
On photos you can see some examples:
Multicolor print with 2 digits with original wheels
Dual color as on typical printers with pause and filament change with 6 (!) digits sepparated by middle stand part with short wheels
Single color prints with 3 digits on short wheels
For numbers I used a Gentium Basic Bold Italic font licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1
Main changes compared to first version
- much better look and usability
- different spring design - one, more durable spring with better clicking sound
- prepared for multicolor printing (there is a 3mf file for Bambu Lab printers but you can easly prepare multicolor print for other printers too with Multicolor-addon files) You can also print it with changing colors after specified layers on typical printer (pause, change color, resume)
What do you need to make a counter
You can also see ModularCounterV2_Instruction.jpg
- Stand-male (TOP or ANGLE)
- Stand-female (same version as male)
- Center or Center-SHORT - as many as many digits you want. 2x Center may be used for 3x Wheel-SHORT
- Wheel or Wheel-SHORT , with domed or carved version of digits - as many as Center parts of same thickness
When assembling Wheel on Center you may need to push a spring a little
To take counter apart you may need something strong and flat (I used tweezers)
Usually I had no problems with this but on one print, where filament was thicker than normal, parts holded too strong and one broke
Optional files:
- For longer counters or to sepparate different parts (for example hp and exp on the same counter) add Stand-middle (same version as Stand-male)
- For multicolor print add Multicolor-addon file, the same as base file (for example Stand-TOP_Multicolor-addon on Stand-TOP) - set both models in the same spot in X and Y axis and merge them
- If you want a stronger spring (wheel will be harder to rotate but will also click louder) use Wheel_Spring-Extander. Set it in the same place as Wheel (one file works with all wheels) and merge both models Spring Extander is with flat 'frame' around it, it will not be printed, it's only there to easier set it in the right spot

3D printing settings
Models prepared for 0.4mm nozzle but there should be no problems when using 0.1-0.5mm
Sliced with Arachne, not Classic engine
Printed with 0.16 and 0.2mm layer height
10% Gyroid infill (use more for Center if you plan to take counter apart)
Tested on 2 different printers with few different filaments
Best clicking sound was with simple, matt PLA. With Silk type it's little worse
If you don't know if your printer is set properly for used filament (it may differ) print only 2x Center model first and try ing them. If it's too hard to (even when using more force) print it with less flow or with XY compensation / Horizontal expansion (you can start with maybe -0.01mm)
If it's too loose use more flow or positive XY compensation
To print in 2-3 colors on typical printer change color after height:
Stand - 0.16mm and 0.64mm
Wheel - 0.24mm and 0.96mm or 0.32 and 0.88
Wheel-SHORT - 0.04mm and 0.76mm or 0.12 and 0.68
You can also choose different heights as you like
For multicolor print you can paint models yourself in the slicer or use Multicolor-addon files
There is also a 3mf file I used for Bambu Lab A1 (should work for all Bambu prnters)
