HUGE UPDATE
This organizer will now fit ALL of the original Horizon Zero Dawn Board Game All-In pledge in 3 boxes, with 2 inches of lid lift or less per box. If you're just looking to fit all the Legendary Machines in one box, you can do so by ing only the files labeled "Legendary Box."
Please note, unlike my previous organizers that were optimized for playability, this organizer is optimized for storage. This means that while Legendary Machines have their own box, everything else is designed to fit the most stuff in the least space. I did make a player box that keeps all cards and minis for each clan in a single box, so it's easier to decide what you want to play. I also added labels to card boxes so it's easier to find what you need But getting to any specific mini will probably require removing other minis.
That said, the upside is that a lot of minis have the same base size, so they can fit in multiple places in the box. The file names show what I put where, but with a few exceptions like Snapmaws and Stalkers (stupid long tails, grrr!), you can mix and match to your heart's content.
Original description follows
This is my 3rd game organizer, and my first without using someone else's work as inspiration, so please be kind π
This organizer is for the Horizon Zero Dawn Boardgame by Steamforged Games. My gaming group enjoys this game, but I hate the space it takes on my shelves. 3rd party organizers only knock it down to 5-6 boxes, with the expansion bosses needing at least 2, with up to 5 inches of lid lift.
These trays will fit ALL of the Legendary Machines expansion bosses and now the whole game! for the original Horizon Zero Dawn boardgame. Yes, all of them. Thunderjaw, Rockbreaker. Fireclaw. Deathbringer (including Corruptors). And even the Stormbird*. In one box. With less than an inch and a half of lid lift. π₯³
Asterisk? What asterisk? OK fine. The Stormbird only fits disassembled. But the rest of them fit fully assembled. It was the best I could do while maintaining at least a ing respect for the laws of physics. If your Stormbird is glued up, you'll have to store it elsewhere.
Also, this organizer holds the minis only; no cards, rulebooks or map tiles. Those all fit in my other boxes. I'm still working on organizers for everything else, with an end goal of fitting everything in 3 boxes.
A few notes:
The Legendary Machines organizer comes split into 4 quadrants for smaller printers, but there's also a single giant file if your printer can fit it (or if you'd rather split it at different spots than I did). The quadrant files have tabs to glue them together.
The Legendary Machines organizer can be glued together, but don't do that with the other organizers! You'll want to be able to remove them to get at things.
*This organizer fits UNSLEEVED cards, with the exception of the small salvage cards. I love the feel of these "linen" cards, and they shuffle well without deforming, so even though I usually sleeve everything in sight, I just didn't feel the need for HZD.
*I discovered while troubleshooting another organizer that the Horizon game can have different sizes for the same box, depending on your lot#, either 11 1/8" square or 11 5/16" square. This fits the 11 1/8" size box. If you have a gap around the edges, put some 5mm foam behind the lower (Thunderjaw) and right sections (Rockbreaker). The upper and left sections have clips to hold the wings that won't fit as well with the foam.
*The Stormbird is held by optional parts in case you want to store it elsewhere. There are wing clips on the upper and left sides behind the Deathbringer and the Fireclaw, and a mount for the body that pokes through a slot in the middle.
*This box is TIGHT, so you will need to shift or rotate minis as you fit others in. The Stormbird body can rotate and slide on a track as you add the minis around it. Please see my included pics for suggested orientations.
*To keep the pieces from shifting, there are clips to hold the sides of the organizer to the sides of the box. These clips have a thin (0.5mm) side and a thick (1mm) side. The thick side goes outside the box, and the thin side can be glued into the slots inside the organizer. The wing clips are the same way, with the wing mount facing inward.
*This organizer holds your minis securely, with room to protect your paint job. The only parts that should rub are the wing clips that hold the wings.
*THIS ORGANIZER IS NOT FOR TRAVEL OR VERTICAL STORAGE. The cups are deep, so it MAY hold your minis securely vertically, but no promises. I've got a few ideas for vertical storage, but those have to wait until I build the rest of the HZD organizers. That said, if you have any suggestions to make things more secure, please them along π
*I am a "minimum viable product" designer, so this organizer is very basic. The wing clips and the removable bird base are the fanciest things I've ever made for an organizer. I'm also 100% open to improvement ideas. I don't charge for my work, so I can't offer payment, but you'll earn the gratitude of me and your fellow gamers π
*Updated files will have the word UPDATE and a v.* number. If something isn't working, check to see if there's a newer file than the one you have. If not, drop me a line and make a suggestion!
*I printed this on my Bambu P1S at 0.24mm layer height using the basic black PLA I buy in bulk (it takes around 350g for all 4 quadrants). Yours will probably look a lot nicer, so send pics, I'd love to see what you do!
