3D model description
This write up is still a work in progress. I'm in the middle of the "how-to" but wanted to get the parts list out first at least.
As soon as I received my Arktos I wanted the bed to tilt and roll back like a real flatbed wrecker. My first version was way too tall, so I came up with this version 2.
This build is not really for beginners, not that I want to scare anyone away from buying and building it, I just hope no one thinks this is plug and play.
You will need the following parts if you want to build it the way I did, fyi, these are links:
- Transmitter and receiver with extra channels, the stock radio will not work. I use an MT12 ELRS with a 14 channel receiver to run all the stock stuff plus the added tilt and rollback along with my lights I added.
o Transmitter: https://amzn.to/3XQg8YH
o Receiver: https://amzn.to/4i4oRgY
- ESC since the stock combo is removed. I had an Injora MB100 when I had the stock motor installed. Now I have a Hobbywing Fusion Mini16 installed.
o Esc if stock: https://amzn.to/42JIYMb
o Hobbywing Mini16: https://amzn.to/42s3vof
- 3S battery since it gets the actuators closer to their rated power. 2s might work but the actuators are 12v so 3s is pretty close and they won’t struggle as much
o https://amzn.to/3YkYkoI
- A dual ESC to run the actuators, one plug on a channel to tilt, the other plug on a second channel to slide. This has a mix switch to mix the channels, make sure it’s off, when the switch is flipped you need ty restart the esc for the change to take effect.
o Dual ESC: https://amzn.to/3FXGvWp
- An RC aux control switch to turn on the dual esc. If you don’t have this then you will have to splice into the esc wire and the dual esc will be on all the time as long as the battery is plugged in, and if you forget to unplug the battery it will drain it. I just plugged it into a channel and made sure that channel was on when powered up, I don’t actually turn this channel on and off at all.

- One 25mm 120n actuator for tilt
o https://amzn.to/3YoW2F5
- Two 125mm 20n actuator for roll back / slide
o https://amzn.to/3G0taN9
- A light controller box like this one since the stock esc/receiver combo was also the light controller. Without this you can’t get the lights going again unless you wire them all to Dupont connectors and fill up receiver channels. I used the lights that came with it for the rear lights, I’m sure I could have used more for the front but I just put a new end on the front lights and ran it to one of the inputs on the receiver already but they died and I had bought new LEDs.
o LED Controller Box: https://amzn.to/4i2YUys
o Extra LEDs I used: https://amzn.to/424CAQu
- Miscellaneous 3mm bolts and nuts, just make sure it has 16mm bolts, these are needed in 4 spots to mount the rollback actuators, tight area.
o https://amzn.to/3R6yC3m
- M4 bolts for the hinge and tilt actuator mounting. Thing hinge in the back takes one m4x60mm bolt all the way across or two m4x30mm bolts(what I used) from either end. I put provisions for nuts in the hinge but I haven’t needed them. This it has the 30mm long ones, not many kits have the 60mm length,
o https://amzn.to/3YnlwCN
- JST/Dupont connector set to make wires and shorten them
o https://amzn.to/4iWKjpv
- JST/Dupont crimpers
o https://amzn.to/4j394k5
- Zip ties, small ones. 1.8mm ones are great but hard to find state side. The first link is to some amazon ones but they can be brittle, the ones from aliexpress have been AMAZING
o Amazon can be brittle ones: https://amzn.to/3R9TVRM
o Aliexpress ones, much better but longer wait: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805749025426.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.99a71802scfcU2&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa
- Hot glue gun to hold down wires, cant find the one I have but this looks cool
