3D model description

The second in the line of conversion kit for the Xshot Insanity is the tripod.

As the original tripod that comes with the Xshot is rather short, a new one has been designed, based on the tripod used by the HMG in Halo 3.

This tripod assembly comes with 13 print files, with several of them requiring 3 prints for each tripod leg.

The legs of the tripod are a combination of the original tripod upper legs, plus new lower legs made using printed parts and 20mm PVC pipe/conduit.

The required pipe length is approximately 90cm, some of which will the original upper legs.

Some of these PVC pipes would also need to be cut down into 3 instances of 5cm cuts for the leg connectors and then 2 instances of 9.5cm cuts for the centre locking rods.

Note that once the Arm cores have been printed, these will need to glued and recommended, soldered to the PVC pipes. This will give a stronger bond and reduce the chance of them coming apart.

3D printing settings

For locking pins, it is recommended to do 6 walls with a higher infill for strength.

For most of the body parts, 4 walls 10% infill should be fine, but once again, 6 walls to give higher strength.

The feet of the tripod are recommended to be printed out of TPU so that they are less likely to get damaged on rough surfaces.
