Sol'Ex for SOLar EXplorer is a Spectroheliograph designed to explore the solar spectrum.
Create images of the sun in different wavelengths such as Alpha and Beta hydrogen, Calcium, Magnesium, Helium ..... and photograph prominences, the chromosphere, flares and much more.
Sol'Ex by James R. is an evolution of the original model designed by Christian Buil and Valerie Desnoux.
This instrument requires an optical kit, an astronomical telescope with a focal length of 220 to 400 mm and an astronomical camera such as the ASI678.
For those who already know Sol'ex.......
"SOL'ex by James Rignault" is an alternative case for the spectroheliograph designed by Christian
Buil and Valérie Desnoux, "SOL'ex by Christian Buil". The latter having already seen versions V1 , V2
and V2 Pro , it was necessary, in agreement with the designer, to change the name to mark
the difference between the two models, and to take sole responsibility for the design, the
realization , evolution and possible problems on my model.
Far from denying its deep affiliation with the original project, this case nevertheless offers a
different mechanical approach, while the optical principle remains strictly the same.
The major evolution lies in the almost monobloc housing, making it extremely rigid. The former
collimator block has disappeared in favor of an internal slit-based collimation adjustment. This possibility
of internal collimation adjustment required a more mechanical approach, making the realization of the
of this model a little more technical but easily achievable all the same.
Warning: This model is currently not compatible with the old optical kit (lens
60mm focal length collimator).
MODEL DETAILS:
-Vertical printing of the main housing, to obtain bores (collimator and focal axes).
lens axes).
-Quick and easy slit collimation adjustment.
-Collimation can be performed directly on the imaging instrument.
-Objective tubes for ZWO or SVBonny SV108 focs.
-Lens tubes screwed to the housing (no more clamping screws) for high rigidity even with
heavy cameras.
-Screw rings to hold lens and collimator in place.
-Anti-glare texture in lens and collimator tubes.
Adjustable grating tilt and trim (front-to-back tilt and right-to-left correction).
-Vernier for main spectral lines.
-Fine adjustment knob.
-T2/31.75 instrument interface .
-Interface for CANON lenses .
-Guiding cube for stellar spectroscopy ( not tested yet ! ).
Vixen-type stand (possibility of adding a KODAK insert for a photo stand) for use in
sunscan mode on a small Skywatcher Pronto-type azimuth mount.
Fully light-tight design
