Parts required from the GoPro:
- Main PCB
- Camera module
- Date/time battery (optional)
- Front screen (optional)
- Front screen "glass" (optional)
- Front microphone (optional)
- Speaker (optional)
Extra hardware needed:
- 10 x 1.4x4mm self-tapping crews (they have to be this tiny to fit through the PCB holes)
- 4 x M2.5x10 screws
- 4 x M2.5 threaded inserts
- 2 x tactile switches (up to 8x8mm size, 4.8mm height)
- 30mm raspberry-pi-stye fan (5V)
- 3-pin JST-XH connector
- 5V DC-DC converter (preferably as small as possible)
Assembly instructions (order is important):
- Solder required wires onto the PCB, (optionally) connect the time battery
- Take part 01_frame, glue the front screen & the microphone. Do not install the PCB yet.
- Take part 02_lens_mount, pre-tap the mounting holes using the small screws
- Take part 04_case_front, install threaded inserts, glue the front screen protector
- Put the frame inside the front_case
- Put the camera module through the cutouts in the frame, then rotate and align with the mounting holes. (mounting "ears" should end up on the front side)
- Put the lens_mount part in front of the lens, screw together the frame, camera module and lens_mount using 3 small screws. (First 2 upper screws then the tricky bottom screw)
- Install the PCB using the 4 of the remaining screws. Do not install 3 screws at the bottom left corner. Connect the camera, mic & front screen connectors.
- Install the speaker, then install the 03_bracket on top of the speaker using the remaining 3 screws. (Speaker should end up being squished between the bracket & camera flex cable)
- Install the fan in the 05_case_back. Put 4 pegs through the mounting holes, melt from the inside.
- Glue in the power connector
- Glue the tactile switches to the 06b_buttons_plate part, install the 06a_buttons & 06b_buttons_plate in the cutouts on the 05_case_back
- Do all the wiring, connect DC-DC converter
- Find a space to tuck all the wiring & close the two halves together. Screw in 4 M2.5 screws
- Done!
