Assassin’s Creed Dual Action Hidden Blade by Sonndersmith (Syndicate edition)

I know I've commented before and while the non-s work just fine, I was just curious on why the Pre-ed Blade Carriage fuses to main model through Cura? (this is more curiosity than anything). I understand not all printers work the same, yet curious to see why other people who have had the same problem using different printers and how yours just pops off normally. Is it just a PLA issue?

So i cannot give enough praise to this model. I had a few hiccups, but nothing I could not fix, and understandable. Works absolutely flawlessly. I had some gray PETG i do not even need to paint it, it is awesome !

my hicccups were :

-some preed parts would not slice correctly (I had 1 definitely I saw it in the slicer, the other I think i has some cleanup to do, i think it was for the same reason)
- I used two kinds of filament, some parts needed A LITTLE bit of sanding, like sanding out the seams and just a touch up in a few places, a hobby file did great work. 100% to be expected, as I wanted it to run smooth
- the connecting rod flange (the wider bit) that goes past the hole of the crankshaft to lock it was not wide enough. I widened it a tiny bit with pliers and now it runs perfect.

GUYS buy this model if you hesitate. No screws needed or springs. Just print a few spare parts just in case. I already cycled it a few hundred of times after some initial light cleanup and it has no flaw in the action

Love the model! Printed it and it seems to work pretty well, but the drive pulley seems to pop out or not latch onto the crankshaft to do a full revolution - is there any way to combat this? The crankshaft isn't the issue, it appears to be the drive pulley.

Hey, bought and printed these, and they're good! I couldn't get the PETG version to work, which might've been because I only printed the mechanical parts in PETG and printed the rest in PLA with the PETG files (because of colour reasons) but unfortunately that didn't work. PLA version worked great! For those having issues with the PLA version with Bambu Lab, I had to print the "connecting rod" file at 1.03 flow value instead of the 0.98 that I used for the rest of the parts.

I'm printing the PLA version, and I was just wondering if adding more rubber bands into the mechanism makes any difference. Would it make the action faster?

Any chance you have a stronger printed spring design

hi recently purchased this and i couldn't the pteg one working ed the crankshaft phase but the pla version does but ive ran into another problem . the blade carriage files off when i test it , any suggestions??????

everything printed great, started putting it together, got the printed spring in, put the cover on, and thats where the issues start, i'll get one pull and then it will lock up, either from the spring lifting up out of its little spot at the back or the "teeth" on the spring dont fully rotate with the cover and dont lock behind the arms on the cover

Hey Sonndersmith, I am not completely understanding the Cults - Private Use license and I don't want to violate it. Would it be ok for me to feature it in a Youtube video, you would be credited, with a slight change to how it is affixed to my arm?

Honestly it looks good and all, until i started printing it and found out the hard way that not everything works out fine. my main problem was with the crankshaft, puley and connecting rod, it was so bad to the point of i fixed something then i found another new problem. such a shame.

cover bottom pt very tight , the mechanism works normally but it doesnt work when ı put the part on what can ı do to make it looser
and can ı sell this on web

What size printer would I need to make this? I've been looking at a few different ones but want to get one that will print this file to size.

I had a few issues on my end with the pla, and managed to sort most of them, sometimes the connecting rod pops out of the crankshaft, or it gets a little stuck, but it's helpful that the cover can clip off and I can put it back in place so it all works again.
I'll probably print another one once I figure out some better print settings as I'm still figuring some bits out.

Doesn’t work very well bad assambely

I love the design of the whole blade. My only issue I'm having is when I try to extend or retract the blade either the crankshaft gets stuck at 2 specific locations (looks to me it gets stuck where the most tension is being put on it to extend and retract the blade) or the crankshaft pops up out of the slot it's in. How would I go about fixing this. I've read your PDF on potential issues and solutions but it hasn't changed anything

So i love the look of your the knife, and was super exited to print it, but im having problems with the blade carriage. I first tried to print the pre-ed, but the part and are fused together. Then i tried to print it with my own , and it worked, but when i slide the blade carriage in the base, with everything inside working, it has a lot of resistance when it glides on top of the gear beneath it. I tried all the other parts together without the carriage, and they work really well.
Do you have any idea on how to improve it?

The Pre-ed blade carriage files are duds. The s disappear once sliced and yield failed prints.

bought this and my first print is great. second one not so much. Using PLA and constantly getting stuck after a couple pulls.

The cover constantly falls apart.

The issue with the getting stuck i believe is because the crankshaft constantly lifts due to the drive pulley shifting so much when pulled(it does not stay down, it wiggles a little bit).

I am using thin rubber bands but this could be because the rubberband is not "square" but "rectangular in shape.

Definitely may need to be looked at. I am also curious what string you are using for the pulley

I’m new to 3D printing so once I buy this how do I print it on my A1 mini?

Nice model. Really liking the PLA version (with the rubber band). Works for me, but I'd say it has a serious design flaw: I can push the blade back into the chamber (not using the mechanism) and I can Also pull it out. Having a look at the design, this seems to be caused be the crankshaft being able to spin backwards. I see there should be a small tab that should prevent it, but that's just it - it's small and easily overpowered to the point I can't feel it's there. After some digging, I found out that the momentum of the opening/closing action sometimes overshoots the tab and the blade enters the next stage of opening/closing partialy. My thoughts on potential fixes:

1. Add another tab on the crankshaft - basically, the 2 tabs would be simetrically oposite to each other and will always engage the 2 positions on open/close providing additional resistance from overshooting
2. Make the tab insert for the open position a steeper angle - this problem occurs mainly when the blade is open. I guess the tab insert for the open postion is easeir to overcome.

Since I currently don't have PETG in an appropriate color I opted for the PLA version. I still have left over silver/metal-ish looking PLA from a different project, so it actually looks really nice. I just have one problem: The fit of the cover plate to the blade carriage is very loose. Just by flipping it over, the cover falls away. Any tips on how to get a better fit? The mechanism itself is working perfectly btw.

Hi! I'm plotting out how I want to go about printing this and may even use some high-strength resin for some pieces, and I'm hoping I can help troubleshoot issues other s have expressed here. I've also recently just finished up a few gunsmithing courses and I'm interested in tuning the trigger-pull on this.

I have a couple of questions:
1) Are the pieces not directly associated with creating the spring-force (Base, Drive Pulley
2) How sturdy is it as is?

The main mechanism does not seem to be working well. when its just the crankshaft and pulley it works fine, when i add the piston connecting rod and gear it works about half the time, but when i add the blade carriage it completely stops working, once it reaches the teeth on the crankshaft it gets stuck. this is the petg version
