Arca-Swiss Compatible Tripod Plate Specifically for Sony RX10iv Mark 4 Camera

This tripod plate has been designed specifically for the Sony RX10 Mark 4 camera and is not suitable for any other camera.

It overcomes most of the well-known problems in the design of the camera, namely the position of the tripod socket and the flimsiness of its mounting. Conventional plates and attachments have been known to cause damage to the camera’s base. They also extend beyond the rear of the camera and thus interfere with its operation.

The advantages of this new plate are: (i) the the screw holding the plate in place does not work loose allowing the plate to rise and damage the back edge of the camera; (ii) the plate does not extend beyond the back of the camera, a great relief to those of use who do not like to be poked in the eye or face by a standard plate; (iii) the plate allows the camera to be mounted at or near the centre of gravity, very useful with all tripod/monopod heads but especially for pan and tilt video heads; (iv) the camera base does not flex as the camera is aimed upwards or even beyond vertical - the ‘garter’ around the lens barrel prevents such flexing.

The plate is Arca-Swiss compatible and has built-in stops at both ends to prevent the camera sliding out of the mount.

Needed to attach the plate to the camera are: (i) A commercially-available screw fitting of a specific size - see photographs and below, (ii) Either strong elastic material to make a tied loop or a cable tie (minimum length 300 mm/12 inches). The nominal dimensions of the tunnel for the elastic band or cable tie are 2 x 5 mm. 3.6 x 300 mm nylon ties work fine.

The optional heat insert tripod bush (¼ inch 20 thread) is 9.52 mm diameter and 7.6 mm high. Obtained via eBay UK.

Please bear in mind these are 3D-printed plates made of PLA. While they have been tested in normal use I cannot offer any guarantees nor can I recommend the use of camera straps that attach to a tripod bush such that the camera is carried upside down.
