3D model description
Adaptive Mounting System for DJI remote controller RC-N1 RCN1 (Mini 2 Mini 3 Pro Mavic 3 Air 2 Air 2S drone) adapter holder tripod GoPro
A versatile, modular set of mounting components designed specifically for the DJI RC-N1 controller (used for DJI Mini 2 Mini 3 Pro Mavic 3 Air 2 Air 2S drones). This system allows you to securely hold the controller, tilt the screen for optimal viewing angles, mount it on a tripod, attach it to a wall, and explore endless configurations. It offers flexibility to adapt the RC-N1 setup to your unique needs and environments.
Key Benefits
Customizable configurations for handheld, tripod, and wall-mounted setups
Enhanced viewing angles and stability
Universal compatibility with other accessories (GoPro-style mounts, Arca-Swiss tripods)
Printable modular components for easy customization and replacement
Here's a breakdown of the printable components and how they work together:
CORE COMPONENTS
main part: securely clips onto the RC-N1 controller after unfolding the built-in phone holder. Designed for quick and easy attachment.
lock: a large, easy-access button that enables quick swapping between different clip attachments.
CLIP ATTACHMENTS
wall/hook clip: mounts the controller to a wall or allows it to hang from a hook using a neck strap.
articulated clip: connects to an Arca-Swiss tripod mount for stable camera setups and allows easy connection to a battery pack during use.
flat clip: screws onto any flat surface, plate, or custom mount, offering a foundation for custom mounting solutions.
PHONE MOUNTING OPTIONS
back mount: attaches to the rear. Provides a compact solution, though the screen sits slightly further back.
top mount: attached to the top. Offers a forward-facing screen position with a sleek, modern look, though it is slightly bulkier.
Both mounting options use a sturdy double GoPro-style interface, allowing compatibility with the 90° Angle Adapter and 45° Angle Adapter, giving you the flexibility to choose the best configuration for your setup.
PHONE HOLDER SYSTEM
A modular system consisting of a central base and a set of corner grips and/or side clamps designed to securely hold your phone. Use a 3 mm bungee cord to create a custom net structure tailored to your device. Refer to the example image showcasing a simple two-corner configuration. Begin by using the provided sizing tools to ensure you select the appropriate dimensions for the printable components. Only a sample of each part is visible here, but a zip file gathers all the variations (width/heigth) for the 3 different pieces.
WEARING AND STABILITY ENHANCEMENTS
hook: attach the RC system to one of the hook's holes to keep the controller balanced and level when your phone is mounted.
chest plate: stabilizes the controller against your chest to minimize movement. It can be used independently or in combination with additional system components, available in three versions:
- Strap Only
- Strap with Lock Button (Recommended)
- Bungee Only
Note that the first two options require minor sewing using a 25 mm elastic strap.
Mix and match components to find your perfect setup. This system is designed to evolve with your needs, offering a robust solution for every flying situation.
NEW:
A version of the left and right arms, GoPro mount, and antenna lock allow the antenna to through the system and position itself in front of the controller.
3D printing settings
All parts shown in the pictures/video are printed with ASA on a Bambu Lab X1C, but PLA will work just as well. Adjust the number of walls on the hook part to achieve your desired resistance/flexibility. Please print the parts as shown in the screenshots. For optimal results, consider printing parts including rails separately. This helps maintain consistent layer times and prevents irregularities during printing (mainly for ASA, ABS...).
is only required for 2 areas of the main part. Other parts do not require at all.
My settings using ASA and a Bambu Lab X1C:
3 walls for most parts, 5 for the hook, 4 for parts with GoPro mounts
20% infill for most parts, 40% (triangle) infill for the hook
only for the main part, defined manually, tree style (see picture)
External border of 5 mm for each piece
Engineering plate with glue, 107°C for the bed
HOLES (eventually rectified by hand before use):
2.5 mm holes: designed to be tapped with M3 threads
3 mm holes: for direct fastening with M3 screws
4 mm holes: for M3 brass inserts (install using a 220°C soldering iron tip)
a large 8 mm hole on the back of the main part is designed for an optional 1/4" brass insert to mount the system directly on a tripod
SCREWS & HARDWARE:
adjustable parts use M5 x 20 mm screws. You can either use hexagonal head M5 screws with the printable head included in the files, or simply use a standard GoPro screw
M5 nuts are required for these adjustable parts
M3 x 8 mm screws will work for most other assembly points
an additional M3 x 6 mm screw can be used to reinforce the lock button (tap the 2.5 mm hole first), but not mandatory for the forces involved here
two M3 x 15 mm screws are needed for the back gopro mount option
