3D model description
Short introduction
This is my third mouse project. This time, i completely revised the shell design and design strategy resulting in even easier assembly, better printability, perfect surface quality, and an even lower weigth while its an L instead of an M. Hereby I present the <36 Gram Viper V3 Pro to Finalmouse ULX Tiger Weight Reduction Mod. Just like last projects, I spent countless of hours perfecting and testing this design and its pretty perfect by now. I also made a detailed Guide where I documented how I printed and assembled the mouse and what tools and materials i used. The shape of the mouse is 99% the same as a Finalmouse ULX Tiger. The mouse fully assembled weighs less than 36 grams while only consisting of 1 piece, still using all the stock internals and being printed out of PLA+, so there is possibly even more weight reduction to be gained when printed out of an exotic material. Also, a smaller battery can be used to further increase weight savings. This design is optimized to print perfectly fine on normal FDM printers. The shell's rigidity has been further improved. The main mousebuttons also received a lot of attention this time around, almost perfectly balanced left and right clicks, very crisp, better pre-tension and no pre-travel. A new feature that will be included in all of my next mouse projects are Grip Templates, with the grip templates perfect mouse grips can be cut out of universal grip tape sheets.
If you have questions before or after purchasing, need help or want to share your success, definitely me on Discord, I respond very quickly on Discord, my discord tag is maxias If i did not accept your message request on discord, please comment your name, ill you on discord.
Gen 2 Update
- instead of using aluminium or kapton tape for the main mousebutton points, the gen2 design uses the ptfe pads found on the points of the main mousebuttons of the stock v3p shell, do not forget the ptfe pads when using the gen2 variant or newer I also fixed the extensions for the sidebuttons to be more centered (does not improve the sidebutton feel in any way)
- added multiple variations with or without holes. the sides without the holes still have a weight saving pattern on the inside of the shell. every shell where the holes on the top and the mousebuttons are changed in any way is not tested regarding click feel. feel free to give through discord!
Gen 6 Update !!Work In Progress!!
Yes, i know that i have skipped some versions, but i have been busy in the background with improving the design further. This time the front of the mouse got a little rework. It now features large cutouts to save weight, increased stiffnes at the front of the mouse, and a simple pre-tension adjustment system to dial in the main clicks to your liking! For the pre-tension adjustment system specific screws are needed, please check for what screws i used in the list of materials, i do not know yet if stock screws will work. A STL and a 3mf (orcaslicer) of this version is provided, please take a good look at what settings are used in the 3mf if you want to slice it yourself. Again, feel free to me and give through discord! Do not use this generation if you are getting it printed by a third party, functionality is not guaranteed!
Materials and tools i used:
3D printing settings
- Bambulab P1S
- 0.4mm E3D High flow ObXidian nozzle
- 225C nozzle temp, 65C bed temp
- Used the high quality 0.12mm preset in OrcaSlicer
- 0.12mm layer height, 0.2 also works fine
- Tree s (manual, hybrid, on buildplate only, remove small overhangs)
- Print mouse shell at 55 degree angle
- Check guide for more slicer settings
Feel free to use any other filaments, however I don’t have experience using other
filaments
A 3mf File is provided.
Disclaimer for the Grip Templates: The templates are the exact maximum size a piece of griptape should be. Therefore when using the grip templates cut inside of the outer edges of the templates or scale them a few percent in the slicer. The template for the rear of the mouse should only be used as a reference for the outer edges. A griptape exactly the size/shape of the rear template can not be applied without wrinkles due to the curvature of the shell. It is recommended to practise with paper first.
