Would you like to Cults?
You like Cults and you want to help us continue the adventure independently? Please note that we are a small team of 4 people, therefore it is very simple to us to maintain the activity and create future developments. Here are 3 solutions accessible to all:
- ADVERTISING: Disable your ad blocker.
- DONATE: Make a donation via Ko-Fi 💜.
- WORD OF MOUTH: Invite your friends to come, discover the platform and the magnificent 3D files shared by the community!
Sharing and ing on Cults3D guarantees that designs remain in makers community hands! And not in the hands of the 3D printing or software giants who own the competing platforms and exploit the designs for their own commercial interests.
Cults3D is an independent, self-financed site that is not able to any investor or brand. Almost all of the site’s revenues are paid back to the platform’s makers. The content published on the site serves only the interests of its authors and not those of 3D printer brands who also wish to control the 3D modeling market.
I love your work, clearly a skilled artist. I wish i was half as good.
I know you have your own style and creativity, but i thought i would ask if you would consider one day maybe creating something that incorporated spiders into it. I keep spiders (tarantulas) as pets. Seeing this model with the hands/fingers coming round the face was really cool. I don't necessarily mean it has to be a model of a person like this one. But the idea of the horror and sense of recoil that people feel when they see the legs of spider slowly moving across or towards something seems interesting to me. Also when it comes to alot of dark/demonic and general horror themed models, very rarely do you see things like spiders incorporated into them. I understand with FDM printing, something detailed when it comes to spiders can be difficult, maybe thats a reason why, but i think with resin printing now it is so much easier to print something like that. This is just an idea, and obviously as an artist it needs to be something you are interested in creating yourself. So no worries if it is not your thing, i still think your models are awsome.
Thank you a lot! And sorry for the late reply. Your message really meant something to me. I usually don’t follow suggestions not because I don’t want to, but because I create in a pretty instinctive way. Like you said, I have my own vision and it’s hard for me to dive into something if I’m not fully feeling it from the inside.
That said, I really liked your idea. The way you described those spider legs creeping in, that slow horror, it stuck with me. It’s a strong image. And you're right, spiders are weirdly rare in horror models, considering how much they affect people on a gut level.
Also, fun thing: I come from a place where there's this old phenomenon called tarantism, a kind of trance dance triggered by the (supposed) bite of a tarantula. So yeah, spiders are kinda close to home, in a strange way.
I’m not saying I’ll jump on it right away, but I’m definitely keeping it in mind for when I have more space to play, i'm currently very busy. Thanks again for sharing that with me.
When it's ready i will you directly ;)
I have heard of "Tarantism" being interested in tarantulas (which tells me you are from Italy). I think most people will be familiar with the tune (but not realise its association with the folklore around the spider bite of the song that is generally used when doing the tarantella dance. The spider that was believed to cause it was the Lycosa tarantula i think,(one i have never owned). Oddly enough its not actually a tarantula, it belongs to the wolf spider group. But that is where we get the name tarantula, which is now used to for the group of spiders we know today as Tarantulas.
Im glad my idea may have inspired you. Like i said, with resin printers we are not restricted to the the same as fdm when it comes to printers models with small, thing or finley detailed parts. I think Spiders (not just tarantulas) can have so many designs to them. Its a shame we don't see more models of them, and incorporated into designs. They can also be coloured in so many ways to. So even if you aren't a model maker, as model painter they can give you so much creative freedom as model to paint. But of course you should only create if you feel it, i would not expect otherwise. Also it should only be within your own time frame should you feel inspired. Anything else other than these things and it becomes forced, and forced art is just not art, but rather like a set job with rules. The freedom is lost. So if you ever become inspired, it does not matter how long it takes, it takes as long as it takes. Rest assured i will always be here ready and waiting.
Oh i didn't know about it! So it's not technically a tarantula. Oh and btw, tarantism was often a socially accepted way for women, especially in strict, rural environments, to express emotional pain they couldn't otherwise show. Things like trauma, repression, unfulfilled desires, grief, or even just the pressure of their roles. The spider bite was more of an excuse or symbolic trigger. Through the dance, they could finally release what was building up inside, in a way the community would tolerate. It was part healing, part ritual, part survival. It was an excuse to take a pause from "social burnout role"
You’re absolutely right, resin printing opens so many doors, especially when it comes to delicate or intricate elements like thin legs, hairs, or even textures. Spiders are so underused in design, despite being such rich, strange, symbolic creatures. They can be elegant, terrifying, mysterious, or even sacred depending on how you frame them. And from a painter’s point of view, the variety of colors and patterns is a dream.
I completely agree with your last words too. I try to never force myself to create just for the sake of producing, even tho adult life calls for itXD. The spark has to come from somewhere real, or it ends up feeling hollow. But when it does come, I’ll follow it fully. Thank you for the encouragement, it really means a lot.
I never knew that bit about how it was used. Interesting, i knew the stuff about the spider itself being a tarantula keeper. Also a little of its history, again mostly through learning about where the spider comes from. You've taught me something new today. Thank you
