Is there a way to do this without AMS?
well, you can set pause after every color in every layer so you can change manually each color...for each layer...but it will take you at the printer for 2 hrs or more, moreover there will be the problem with color purges....it is possible yes...but it will be hard and annoying :-D
Fair point, yeah, it's not each layer so it's stop start. Time to save some pennies....
