A Link Awakens Design, with a bonus sword container design
These designs are to be printed in separate parts in the corresponding colors to eliminate the need for paint. This also allows everyone to print this design regardless of what printer you are using.
Link Awakens Confused
After completing my Zelda Echoes design, I also had to make a Link Awakens.
I wanted my design to have a slightly different feel from the other Link designs I have seen.
One of my favorite parts of the Legend of Zelda games is the dungeon mazes and puzzles, which always leave me with a perplexed expression on my face.
I thought it would be a great idea to give Link the facial expression and a bit of a different pose, as appearing to be puzzled by the tasks before him.
I absolutely love the two of these characters together, and when positioned just right, it appears Link is pondering, "What the Heck is Zelda??" Haha
I am quite happy with the results, and I hope you are too.
Printing…
It should be rather simple, as none of the parts require . The hardest piece to print would be the tiny brown sword handle that gets pressed into his left hand. Unlike the staff pieces for my Zelda design, this part is easier to print and shouldn’t be an issue if you add a brim to the piece for better build plate adhesion.
Assembly…
It should be fairly simple. Dry-fit everything in place before adding glue.
I highly recommend PLA Gloop if you can get your hands on it.

Starbond Adhesives make a good CA or super glue alternative at a lower price point. I recommend the Medium or Thick formula. I would defiantly pick up some Accelerator if your planning on using the Thick formula.
I have tried to eliminate issues with assembly by changing the keys for the arms and hands so that they can only be placed in their corresponding locations.
I do recommend paying close attention when adding the brown belt to the top of the bottom green body. I can see someone getting confused and adding this part upside down. Although it is marked in two locations. One place to pay close attention to is the area where the gold belt buckle will go. This can only be inserted if the two pieces are correctly aligned.
I also want to note about assembling the sword.
I found the easiest way to align the pieces was to assemble the right or triangular keyed arm and hand together. Then press the brown sword handle into the cut out of his hand. This will have a small pin attached to help center the blue hilt of the sword. You will notice there's a cut out along his right sword arm. To help strengthen the connection of the sword to the arm, add a bit of glue to the cut out on his arm and align the hilt in a position where it attaches to the arm and the brown sword handle. Lastly, add the silver blade to the arm assembly, then attach it to the body.
Suggested Filaments
I played around with two different dark Green PLA for this design.
I absolutely love the way Bambu Carbon fiber looks for this design and highly recommend trying it out if your printer is capable of printing a carbon fiber filament safely.

Zelda Sword Level 1 container
I just had to blow up the sword on my Link Awakens design, as I thought it turned out fantastic and would be a great display piece on its own. I scaled it up 830%, as large as I could get the blade to fit on the build plate of my Bambu Printers, adjusted the clearances, and ran some test prints.
The Sword came together nicely and looks fantastic! But as I was putting the pieces together, I couldn’t help thinking it would make a great container if hollowed out. So, I went back to the design, hollowed out the blade, and made the handle threaded so you could access the hollow area as easily as unthreading the handle of the sword. I also split the handle and hollowed it out, creating a second hidden storage area in the design.
This Sword is Awesome! And the fact that I can use it as a hidden storage container... hell Yeah!

Super simple no s necessary.

I used 12 x 3mm magnets to align the two halves of the brown sword handle. The Starbond CA glue listed above is the best glue for attaching magnets, while the PLA gloop is best for securing PLA to PLA.
Make sure the magnets are oriented correctly before gluing them in place!
The Silver blade should fit tight in the Blue Hilt and be glued in place. The rectangular blue threaded piece should also be inserted in the blue hilt and glued in place. Be sure to keep glue away from the threads of this piece, as you will want to make sure you can remove and reattach the handle to access the storage area.
The remaining parts do not require glue as you would want to thread and unthread the handle to access the hidden storage areas.
Suggested Filaments
I used these magnets for this design: 12 x 3mm Magnets. They are unnecessary but complete the design with a more finished feel. You will have an easier time aligning the handle halves and threading them with the magnets.
