hello again, question about the 5mm rod. it's going through the center of the model from the back handle to the front, correct? additionally, does the front grip have a rod as well or does it only plug into the main body? (asking as curious if that part would break or not under force being held)
great model though! going to keep my eye on it for now (as well as a few of your other items!) till i got the time to 3D print stuff, love all your work!

The 5mm part is actually just for the front handle, and it's a 5mm thick flat bar- it essentially replaces the cosmetic printed part of the printed side handle. It inserts into the front handle and into the body. The rest of the model is just plugs. I only really felt that the front handle needed it- like you say, it's a side loaded piece that will be holding the majority of the weight, so I gave the option for reinforcement!
