Curved Chunky Digits & Symbols

This Curved Chunky Digits & Symbols post is a companion set to my similarly shaped Alphabet. Terrific for adding numerical elements or other symbols to signs or displays. Print large for celebrations like graduations or anniversaries. Display an address or phone number in a video background. Set up math problems with elementary school students. Birthday cake toppers! So many possibilities!

All digits and symbols have a matching curve on the front. They are 100 mm tall at 100% scale, however all of the ones I printed and photographed are 50 mm tall (50% scale). Everything can be printed without s if printed on the flat back side.

A Few Notes

My original goal when creating the Alphabet was to have a full set of letters that could stand on their own. A few, such as P and F, could not do that, therefore I added a small platform to modify the base so they could stand.

In this set for the 4, Heart, Comma, and Dollar Sign I included versions labeled "Modified Base" with platforms so that they can stand upright. Originally I had platforms that matched the width, but for my 50% scale prints, I found a narrower base sufficient. The smaller bases are labeled "v2" for each file.

Also, the Dollar Sign has a third version: "Original Size - Larger." This symbol has an element that drops below the baseline and, with the upper part, it is significantly taller than the other pieces. However, if laying flat or mounting to a wall, for example, this larger size may be preferred.

My LOVE Letters are the same shape as the L, O, V, E from the Alphabet originally designed 180 mm tall. These would look great with the Heart from this set!

Another Idea: The Ampersand from this set along with a couple letters make a romantic set of initials. For example, "A & D" on a mantlepiece.

Most models are exactly 100 mm tall. Some rounded digits and symbols are slightly taller and there are some short symbols too. Letters are approximately 39 mm thick and have various widths. The digits and symbols shown in the photos were printed at 50% scale.

Some of the digits and symbols could print upright (or on a side or upside down), like I did with the Alphabet. However, for simplicity, I printed all of these flat on their back (rotated -90° about the x-axis).

For settings, I used 0.2 mm layer height, 4 perimeters, 3 top/bottom solid layers, and 15% lighting infill. However, I used a modifier to change the layer height to 0.12 mm (rather than 0.2) and the number of perimeters to 6 after the first 9.72 mm (out of 19.44 mm height at 50% scale).

Note: For the Hearts I set the modifier to begin at 6 mm and the Star it was set to begin at 5.40 mm. This helps capture the full curve with the smaller layer height.
