3D model description

The Wolf Trap Light is located in the Virginia portion of the Chesapeake Bay. About 4 miles from Winter Harbor Haven, south of where Rappahannock River enters the bay.

To replace the old screwpile light exisiting in the shoal that was hit and damaged due to ice floes, in 1893 a new cast-iron pier called caisson is built.

On top of it, a three-story brick house with a tower was built to hold a fourth-order lens. The house is octagonal with each side eight feet (2,5m) long and, to avoid corrosion, it was painted red late in 1930.

In 2005, under the provisions of the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act, Lighthouse became available for private ownership and acquired in 2023 by The Lighthouse Centers in order to restore and preserve it together with diverse marine ecosystems along the Chesapeake Bay.

The model was designed using pictures and detailed drawing of the actual building in scale 1/160 (N scale).

You can resize it using your favourite software before print, however, if you do so, some of the parts may lose stability or look over scaled.

Model has 19 different pieces that you need to assembly as any other model kit: I attached an instruction booklet together with the ed files. Printing, painting and weathering will give a lot of fun.

This model can be a great addition to your layout or diorama.

  • Designed to be printed using SLA
  • Dimensions are Ø33 x H137 mm
  • The widest part measure Ø33 mm: Check your 3dprinter build volume
  • The kit has 19 parts: With the you get both with and without s.
  • The ed files are not with the optimal printing orientation but with the optimal orientation according to minimize sanding and provide a perfect fit between parts. However, you can add s according to your methods.
  • The kit part T1 LAMP correspond to the lamp and has to be printed in clear resin.
  • The kit has been designed to allow space for wiring in case you want to lighten with micro LEDs
